ICT 4510-1: SPRING QUARTER 2018

Week 5: Project 3

Using the Bootstrap Framework

About Me

I am a Technology Analyst/Web Developer for the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve. When people ask me what I do, I I tell them I make pretty Web pages.

I have recently started examining the question "What do you do?" and I realize I am not exactly answering it correctly. When I stop to really think about it, I:

  • Help people share information.
  • Help people find information.
  • Make it easier for people to perform tasks.

So, what do I do? I help people. Not only by solving problems, but also by solving needs. The pretty Web pages and other applications I build for them? That's how I do it.

I'm studying for my Master's in Information & Communication Technology with a concentration in Web Design & Development. I hope to gain a better understanding of designing and developing pages and applications to solve user needs.

My Hometown

I live in Frederick, Maryland. Here are some interesting facts about us:

  • Frederick was founded by English and German settlers in 1745 and was home to many historical figures, including Francis Scott Key - author of the Star Spangled Banner.
  • During the Civil War, the many churches in the city served as hospitals for the wounded soldiers from the several battles that surrounded the city.
  • Frederick is one of the fastest growing counties in Maryland. Many businesses have relocated to the area because of its location. Due to the expanding economy, many tech startups are also looking into Frederick as well.
  • Frederick is named as one of the top 100 places to live. This is because when compared to other suburbs of Washington, D.C., you can actually afford to live here.
  • Our downtown area is amazing. We have a lot of great community artwork, local restaurants, and small businesses that make for a fun day of walking around. There are also many beautiful, historic churches to visit.
  • We've won awards! Frederick was named "Distinct Destinations" by the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 2002. In 2005, it also received the "Great American Main street" recognition. It has also received the prestigious "Great Places in America" by the American planning association in 2011.
